I haven't looked at this for years! I'll put up this practice post for the express purpose of reminding myself how this works. Writing something anyone might want to read may take more time...

In Savannah Georgia, very close to town, is a perfect opportunity to turn something wasted into something amazing. That picture shows what land looks like when all the trees, big old oaks, are bulldosed and burned. I know, I was there time and again for years. The lot is called a borrow pit, or 'barrow' pit, the fill was trucked away to level the course of local roads and developments, the trees were just in the way. The property is between two highways on the industrial side of town so of course this location isn't as valuable as the riverfront lots where the fill dirt went. And I don't blame the owners of the lot, they probably have a plan to swale the surface, dig retention ponds, pave a drive, and call it an industrial park.

I don't object on 'environmentalist' grounds; the trees will grow back. It's just not the highest and best use of the land as the real estate agents say. I would think, being this close to a thriving city, and adjacent to a state highway, that some creative thought might turn it into a far more profitable development: zoning board notwithstanding.
